Mining activity and environments in Greenland
The Centre for Sustainable Futures’ Student Forum invites researchers and students at UCPH Humanities, as well as other interested parties, to join the event.
Geographer Zenica Gosvig Larsen has a background as a special consultant at the Environmental Protection Agency for the Mineral Resources Area in Greenland (Miljøstyrrelsen for Råstofområdet). Zenica Gosvig Larsen will give a talk about the environmental impact of mining in Greenland and the concrete initiatives that are being taken to protect nature and surroundings in connection with mining activities.
Frank Sejersen, associate professor at Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies (Tværkulturelle og Regionale studier) UCPH, provides a historical and political perspective on the role of mining in Greenland with a focus on the role of sustainability and consideration for the environment in the debate. After the presentation, we will have a round of questions from the moderator and audience.
