Extraction: The Frontiers of Green Capitalism
The Centre for Sustainable Futures invites researchers and students at UCPH Humanities, as well as other interested parties, to join our reading group on Thea Riofrancos’ Extraction: The Frontiers of Green Capitalism (W.W. Norton, 2025).
Thea Riofrancos is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Providence College, a Strategic Co-Director of the Climate and Community Project, and a fellow at the Transnational Institute.
Her research focuses on resource extraction, climate change, the energy transition, the global lithium sector, green technologies, social movements, and the Latin American left. Among other works, she is the author of Resource Radicals: From Petro-Nationalism to Post-Extractivism in Ecuador (Duke University Press, 2020).
Extraction: The Frontiers of Green Capitalism offers an in-depth investigation into the rapidly expanding green technology sector and the environmental, social, and political consequences of the mining it requires.
Everyone is welcome. Please write to Tilde Stege Rasmussen if you would like to participate
