The Nutmeg’s Curse

The Centre for Sustainable Futures will host the next Sustainable Futures Reading Group to discuss Amitav Ghosh’s book, The Nutmeg’s Curse: Parables for a Planet in Crisis. Ghosh combines historical analysis, personal narrative, and masterful storytelling as he demonstrates the connections between colonial conquest and contemporary environmental crises.

In case you are not already hooked, we are pleased to announce that Daniel Steinbach, a historian of colonial history at the Saxo Institute who has written about imperial encounters, global dynamics, and landscape, will give a brief opening lecturette to kick off the discussion. We look forward to seeing you there!
